Save form answers to your own customer fields
Link a question on a form to one of your own customer fields, such as a loyalty tier or a preferred contact time, and each submission saves the answer on that customer in Vyro. Anyone who can edit forms can link fields. Owners, managers and admins create the custom fields themselves.
Before you start
Create the field under Settings → Custom Fields, with Customers as the record type. Only customer fields can be filled from a form. See Add your own fields to Vyro records.
Steps
- Sign in at https://vyro.co/access.
- Open All services in the sidebar, choose Forms under Market, then open the form.
- Add the field in one of two ways:
- From the library. In the library under the form, open Customer record and pick your field. Your own fields are listed with the built-in ones and say One of your own customer fields. It arrives already linked, with a matching type and name.
- From a question already on the form. Select the question and open Linking in the side panel. It reads Not linked to the customer record: select Choose and pick your field. Select Change to pick a different field, or Remove link to stop saving the answer.
- With no field selected, check Automation in the side panel and keep Create Customer on. Answers are saved to the customer a submission creates or matches, so a form that creates no customer has nowhere to save them.
- Select Save changes.
Result
When someone submits the form, the answer is saved on their customer record in Vyro and shows in that field's column on the Customers list.
- An empty answer isn't saved. A question left blank doesn't clear a value the customer already has.
- An existing value isn't replaced. If the customer's field already holds a value, a new submission leaves it as it is.
- Several choices are saved together. A question that allows more than one answer saves them as one value, separated by commas.
- The answer is still on the submission. Whatever happens to the customer field, the full answer stays on the form's Submissions tab.
To check it before going live, use Preview with Save submission and run automations turned on, then open the customer it links to. See Test a form's automations from Preview.
Custom fields on the form itself
Fields created with Forms as the record type describe the form, not the person filling it in, such as a campaign code or an owning team. Set them with no field selected, under Custom fields in the side panel. They aren't questions on the form and customers never see them.
