Show a question only when it's needed
Last updated October 13, 2026
Show a field only when an answer elsewhere on the form calls for it. For example, ask for a trade-in's details only when someone says they have one. You can also hide a single option in a dropdown, radio or checkbox list until it's relevant. Anyone who can edit forms can do this.
Steps
- Sign in at https://vyro.co/access.
- Open All services in the sidebar, choose Forms under Market, then open the form.
- Select the field that should appear or disappear.
- Open When to show in the side panel and select + Condition.
- Choose the question the field depends on, how to compare it, and the answer to compare against. What you can compare depends on the question:
- Any question: Equals, Does not equal, Has a value, Is empty.
- A dropdown, radio, text or number question: also Is one of and Is not one of.
- A number question: also Greater than, Less than and their or equal versions.
- A checkbox list: Contains and Does not contain instead of the "one of" checks.
- To add more conditions, select + Condition again. Use Match ALL to show the field only when every condition is true, or Match ANY to show it when at least one is.
- To hide a single option instead, select the dropdown, radio or checkbox field, open Options, choose Shown conditionally on the option, and add its conditions the same way.
- Select Save changes.
Result
On the canvas, a field with conditions is marked Shown by logic. Open the Preview tab and answer the earlier questions to see it appear and disappear, as it will for customers.
A required field that is hidden doesn't need answering, so a customer is never blocked by a question they can't see.
If a condition can't be edited
- "Can't be edited here". Some conditions made in the previous form editor use rules the builder can't edit yet, such as groups within groups. The builder shows them read-only and keeps them exactly as they are when you save. To change one, select Replace with a new condition and build it again.
- A warning that the condition "depends on" a field that isn't on the form. The question it relies on was removed or renamed, so the condition can never be met and the field never shows. Change the condition to point at a question that's on the form, or remove it.
