Manager Flow: Reviewing and Approving Finance Changes

Last updated May 10, 2026

As a Finance Manager, you review changes submitted by editors and decide whether to approve them or request modifications. This guide covers the full review workflow.

Reviewing a Submitted Draft

Step 1: Find Drafts Awaiting Review

  1. Go to Finance Products in the Dashboard sidebar
  2. Look for products with the Pending Approval status badge in the Approval Status column
  3. Click to open the draft

When you open a pending draft, you'll see a warning callout:

This draft is awaiting your review. Review the proposed changes and approve or request changes.

Step 2: Open the Review Dialog

  1. Click Review Submission in the callout banner
  2. A full-screen dialog opens titled "Review Finance Product"

The review dialog shows:

  • Submission Details — who submitted it, the date, the requested go-live date (if set), and any comment from the editor
  • Preview Calculator — button to preview how the product will render in the finance calculator
  • Proposed Changes — a diff table showing exactly what changed ("Published" vs "Proposed")
  • Revision History — accessible from the footer, shows the full timeline of actions on this draft

Step 3: Take Action

At the bottom of the review dialog, you have two options:

Approve

  1. Click Approve (green button)
  2. You move to a confirmation step:
    • Go-live date & time (required) — pre-filled from the editor's requested date. You can adjust this.
    • Comment (optional) — add a note about the approval
  3. Click Confirm Approval — goes live [date]

Request Changes

  1. Click Request Changes (orange button)
  2. You move to a feedback step:
    • Reason for requesting changes (required) — explain what needs to be modified
  3. Click Confirm Request Changes

The draft returns to the editor in Changes Requested status with your feedback visible.

What Happens After Approval

  • The draft's changes are scheduled to go live on the go-live date you confirmed
  • The draft record is retained for audit history
  • The Revision History records the approval with timestamp and any notes

What Happens After Requesting Changes

  • The editor sees a warning callout on their draft with your feedback
  • They can view your notes via View Changes & History
  • They can modify the draft and resubmit for approval
  • When resubmitted, it returns to Pending Approval and you can review the updated changes

Status Reference

Status What It Means for Managers
In Progress Editor is still working — no action needed
Pending Approval Waiting for your review — take action
Changes Requested You asked for modifications — waiting for editor to resubmit
Approved You approved this — changes are live or scheduled
Recalled Editor recalled their submission — back to draft status
Cancelled Draft was cancelled — no further action needed

Tips

  • Review the diff table carefully — it shows exactly what changed without needing to compare products manually
  • Use the Calculator Preview to verify the product renders correctly with realistic vehicle prices
  • Use the Revision History to see the full lifecycle of changes, submissions, and decisions
  • The go-live date is required on approval — this prevents accidentally publishing changes immediately
  • Use the feedback field when requesting changes to give the editor clear, actionable guidance
  • If a go-live date is set, changes won't take effect until that date even after approval
  • You can approve your own drafts if you also proposed changes (you have both editor and manager capabilities)
  • Multiple drafts can be pending at the same time for different products
