Set a price that depends on other selections

Last updated September 23, 2026

Sometimes an option's price depends on something else the customer has picked. A pack might be cheaper on a higher grade, or a paint colour might be included on one model grade and extra on another. Advanced pricing rules let you set this up without code: you choose a condition, a price for when it's true, and a price for when it isn't.

Users with the Owner, Manager or Support role can set these rules.

How a rule works

Each rule has four parts:

Part What it means
What to be selected The field the rule looks at, for example Grade or Colour.
Selected item / Not selected item / Array of items The choice (or choices) within that field that the rule checks for.
Then Value The price when the condition is true.
Else Value The price when the condition is false.

There are three types of rule:

  • If statement: use the Then Value when a particular item is selected. Example: the Tech Pack costs $0 when the top grade is selected, otherwise $2,500.
  • If not statement: use the Then Value when a particular item is not selected. Example: the paint costs $1,000 unless the base grade is selected, in which case it costs $0.
  • Array of records: use the Then Value when any one of several items is selected. Example: the wheels are $0 on either of the two higher grades, otherwise $1,800.

For fields where customers can pick more than one item (such as packs or accessories), the rule checks whether the item is among the customer's choices.

Steps

  1. Sign in at https://vyro.co/access.
  2. In the sidebar, click Configurators, then open the configurator.
  3. On the Structure tab (or the Labels tab), click the option whose price should change.
  4. Next to the Price box, click Advanced. The Advanced Pricing Rules window opens.
  5. Choose the rule type you want and click Use.
  6. Under What to be selected, choose the field the rule should look at.
  7. Choose the item to check for. For Array of records, open Array of items and tick each item that should trigger the Then Value.
  8. Enter the Then Value and the Else Value.
  9. Check the Current value box at the bottom of the window. It shows the rule you've built in one line, for example fields.badge === "_GradeB" ? $0.00 : $2,500.00.
  10. Click Apply Formula.
  11. In the Live preview, try selecting different items in the field the rule depends on and check the option's price changes as expected.
  12. Click Save Changes at the top right. This publishes the change to your live configurator straight away.

Result

The Advanced button is now highlighted, and the plain Price box is greyed out. Hovering over it explains that the rule is being used instead. On your website, the option's price changes as soon as the customer changes the selection the rule depends on.

Change or remove a rule

  • To change a rule, click Advanced again. The window opens with the current rule filled in. Update it and click Apply Formula, then Save Changes.
  • To go back to a single price, click Advanced, then Clear. The Price box becomes editable again. Check that the price in it is still right, then click Save Changes.

Good to know

  • One condition per rule. Each rule checks one field. If you need a price that depends on more than one field at a time, contact support.
  • "We couldn't parse this expression." This appears when an option was given a more complex rule outside this window. The existing rule still works. You can replace it by building a new rule and clicking Apply Formula, but it's best to check with support first so you don't lose pricing logic you need.
  • Rules are per configurator. If you run a configurator for each market, set the rule in each one.
