How to Set Up and Manage PMA
Last updated January 30, 2026
Objective
Here's a quick walkthrough of the new Primary Market Area (PMA) setup that's being rolled out, along with how you can manage it directly from your end. This release gives dealerships far more flexibility when defining and maintaining their geographic market zones.
Key Steps
Step 1: Go to Settings
- Open your Dashboard.
- Click Settings → Location.
- Choose the location (dealership) you want to manage.
Step 2: Open the PMA Tab
- In the location settings, you'll see a new tab called Primary Market Area.
- Click on it to start setting up your PMA.
Step 3: Draw Your Market Area
- Click Draw Area on the map.
- Outline the region that belongs to this dealership.
- You can draw multiple areas if one location covers more than one region.
- When done, click Save.
Step 4: See It in Action
- When a customer visits your site, they'll see a location pop-up.
- They can type a postcode or suburb name (Google-powered search).
- The system automatically matches them to the correct PMA.
Step 5: Handle Overlaps or No Matches
- If two PMAs overlap, both options will appear and the customer can choose.
- If no match is found, the system sends the lead to your fallback location (for example, NSW).
Step 6: Edge Case – Large Postcodes
- Some postcodes (like 2000 in Sydney) cover large areas.
- The system uses the centre point of that postcode to check if it fits inside your PMA.
- If the centre is outside your shape, it might not match — you can fix this by slightly expanding your PMA area.
Step 7: Turn PMA Off (if needed)
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Ordering.
- Find Primary Market Mode.
- Select Disabled to turn off PMA.
- Changes take effect within about 1 minute.
Step 8: Test Your Setup
Open your website in incognito mode.
Try searching three examples:
- A suburb inside your PMA (should assign to your location).
- A suburb in overlap (should show two options).
- A suburb outside all PMAs (should route to fallback).
Make a test enquiry or order — check it's correctly assigned.
